Our Terms & Conditions

We are not mining your data

Skó Drinks uses BlueHost (our web host), WordPress (our website generator), OceanWP (our theme), and various plugins. We do not collect data (with Google Analytics) or use cookies beyond what BlueHost, WordPress, OceanWP or the plugins use by default. However, we do rely on these companies to make the website functional, and the following information reflects how they say your data is used.

What personal data does the website collect? Why?

Order & Shipping Information

This is adapted (from our perspective and usage) from the WordPress Privacy Notice:

If you place an order from our site using Automattic’s store and ecommerce features available through WordPress.com or Jetpack (including WooCommerce Services), they will collect information to process that order such as credit card and billing information, and an address for shipping the package along to the recipient and calculating applicable taxes. They will also use this information for other purposes on our behalf–for example, to send marketing and other communications from us to you, and to provide us with analytics information about our ecommerce site (e.g., the number of orders from particular geographic areas).

Automattic Privacy Notice

Comments & Reviews

If you leave comments or reviews on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form. (If we didn’t, we wouldn’t be able to read or post your star reviews.) We also collect the IP address and browser user agent string to help detect spam. (We don’t want bad people finding unscrupulous ways to get into our site and edit your star reviews).

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) will connect to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is used through Automattic. After we approve your comment (meaning we display it when we decide it’s not obscene or spam), your Gravatar profile picture publicly displays next your comment (again, if you have one).

Media

If you upload images to our website, and your camera uses embedded location data (EXIF GPS), you will likely want to remove that data before uploading. Other visitors on the website can (apparently) download and extract the location data. So what does this mean? If your camera has a geolocation feature turned on and you don’t remove the location data before uploading, bad people can figure out where you took the photo. While this isn’t news, it’s something easily overlooked.

Contact forms

If you contact us, we collect the data shown in the form. If we didn’t, we wouldn’t be able to read what you’ve written or get back to you! We use WPForms, which, from what we understand, collects your IP address and browser user agent string to help detect spam. (We don’t want bad people finding unscrupulous ways to get into our site and contact you.)

Cookies

We tested our site, turning off all cookies. You will not be able to purchase anything without cookies, as whatever you add to the cart will be removed immediately. Also, nothing will be transferred from one page to the next. We use WooCommerce, run by Automattic, the same company that services WordPress as a whole. Turning off cookies will also break the functionality of your account:

If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. This way, you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and the site discards it when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. However, if or when you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, your browser will save an additional cookie. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Some of our pages include embedded content (e.g. YouTube videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if you visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content. This may include tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website. (Really, we have no idea what they do. You should read their privacy policy if you’re concerned.)

Analytics

We are solely using the analytic features integrated within BlueHost and WordPress and do not use Google Analytics or any other plugin or software. We are able to see site traffic, purchase statistics, and IP addresses (for spam protection).

How we share your data

We do not intentionally share your data with anyone. BlueHost, WordPress, OceanWP, and the plugins have access to the data we’ve outlined. You should read their privacy policies if you’re concerned. Feel free to contact us at [email protected] if you have questions about our plugins.

When you purchase a product through PayPal, the site shares your personal data with them.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, we retain the comment and its metadata indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

If you register as a user on our website, we also store the personal information you provide in your user profile. Users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time; however, they cannot change their username. We, the website administrators, would be able to make that adjustment as we can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you. This includes any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for legal or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Questions?

If you should have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us.

Additional information

How we protect your data

To protect your personal information, we take reasonable precautions and follow industry best practices to ensure it is not inappropriately lost, misused, accessed, disclosed, altered or destroyed. If you provide us with your credit card information, the information is encrypted using secure socket layer technology (SSL). Although no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, we implement generally accepted industry practices.

What data breach procedures we have in place

We will notify all anyone whose personal data have been compromised as soon as we are aware of a data breach. At that time, we will provide you with instructions on how to proceed.

Privacy Policy Updates

We will update our Privacy Policy to clarify content or if BlueHost, WordPress, OceanWP, etc. alter their policies affectively. Further, we will notify you of such updates on this page, through your account or other provided contact methods.
